Introduction
Increasing use of computed tomography (CT) imaging and the imperative to reduce healthcare costs has focused research on improving workflow efficiency during scanning.
Contrast medium (CM) is used in up to 60% of CT procedures and is associated with greater time and expenditure compared with non-contrast imaging. Efficiency has been improved by the use of power injector (PI) systems that administer contrast medium at a consistent volume and speed with precision timing. This allows optimization of contrast enhancement during multidetector CT, while minimizing the dose required [ 1].
