1. Patient presentation
- A 26-year-old man presented with intense, continuous pain localized to the back and sometimes
to the flank, associated with nausea and vomiting and precipitated after drinking water. - The patient had no history of trauma, colicky pain or febrile urinary tract infections.
- Laboratory testing indicated slightly increased serum levels of creatinine, but no hematuria.
- Ultrasound of the kidney and lower urinary tract showing mild renal pelvis dilatation.
- Contrast-enhanced CT of the pelvis was performed.
