    1. Patient Presentation

    • A 78-year-old man presented with abdominal pain, with no passing of feces or gas over the previous five days. On clinical examination his abdomen was soft on deep palpation.
    • He reported a history of hemicolectomy and prostatectomy for oncological disease.
    • Blood tests showed an increase in C-reactive protein, lactate dehydrogenase and white blood cells, particularly neutrophilia.
    • Contrast-enhanced CT was performed to detect the cause of the abdominal pain.
