In patients with suspected pulmonary embolism undergoing contrast-enhanced CT angiography, the injection of 20 mL of high-concentration contrast agent was sufficient to obtain contrast-enhancement of pulmonary arteries

A recent study compared diagnostic accuracy of contrast-enhanced CT angiography for the evaluation of patients with clinical suspicion of pulmonary embolism with the injection of either 20 mL or 40 mL of high-concentration contrast agent. The inferior amount of contrast agent proved to provide diagnostic results, with the exception of massive embolism or overlying parenchymal abnormalities.
