One recent study measured the coronary artery calcium score (CACS) obtained with CT in order to assess the risk of significant coronary artery disease in patients with and without obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Contrast-enhanced coronary artery CT showed that patients with OSA had a significantly higher CACS than patients without OSA. Thus, OSA should be considered an independent predictive factor of a high risk of significant coronary artery disease.
