Assessment of coronary heart disease using CT angiography in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

    By performing combined pulmonary CT scan and coronary CT angiography (CCTA), a European study group evaluated chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients and non-COPD controls and reported a higher occurrence of coronary heart disease (CHD) in COPD patients. This study confirmed that COPD patients are at increased risk of CHD, regardless of their disease severity.
