Respiratory distress in a newborn with Tetralogy of Fallot

    1. Patient Presentation

    • A male newborn with a prenatal diagnosis of Tetralogy of Fallot was admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for respiratory distress and subsequently required intubation due to clinical deterioration.
    • His clinical course was complicated by Escherichia coli pneumonia, prolonged mechanical ventilation, persistent pulmonary hyperinflation, and repeated difficulties during intubation. These findings prompted contrast-enhanced chest CT to rule out the presence of a vascular ring.
