CT Urography: the gold standard in urinary tract imaging

    Introduction

    With the introduction and diffusion of MDCT technology, several conventional radiographic techniques have been adapted to CT scanners, enabling the development of diagnostic examinations that have progressively replaced their radiologic counterparts for various clinical applications. Among these, the most renowned to the medical audience are undoubtedly CT angiography and CT colonography. However, a pivotal role in body imaging, and in particular in the genitourinary field, is played by CT urography. In fact, the European Society of Urogenital Radiology has indicated that CT urography is the modality of choice for advanced imaging of the urinary system, including kidneys, ureters and bladder.
