1. Patient Presentation
- A 78-year-old woman was admitted to the emergency room for severe abdominal pain, vomiting and
constipation. - Her medical history was unremarkable; in particular, she had never had surgery.
- Laboratory test results were normal.
- Plain radiography of the abdomen showed distension of small bowel loops with air-fluid levels
in the left upper quadrant. - Multiphasic contrast-enhanced CT of the abdomen was performed to investigate.
