1. Patient presentation

  • A 58-year-old woman at average risk for colorectal cancer (i.e. no first-degree relatives with
    the disease) had a positive result at fecal occult blood testing (FOBT).
  • Conventional colonoscopy was inconclusive due to severe sigmoid diverticular disease.
  • The patient was referred for CT colonography.
