    1. Patient Presentation

    • A 73-year-old man presented to the emergency room with severe abdominal pain, fever, chills,
      intense perspiration, and obstipation.

    • Laboratory tests revealed an elevated white blood cell count and slightly elevated levels of
      serum alkaline phosphatase and bilirubin.

    • He was referred for contrast-enhanced CT of the abdomen.
