    1. Patient presentation

    • A 54-year-old woman was admitted to the emergency room for fever, vomiting and pain in the
      lower left quadrant of the abdomen.

    • Her medical history included hysteroannessiectomy.
    • Laboratory tests revealed slightly elevated C-reactive protein (7.6 mg/l).
    • After initial sonography without specific findings, contrast-enhanced CT of the abdomen was
      performed.
