    1. Patient presentation

    • A 69-year-old man presented to the otorhinolaryngology department with a 3-month history of cough, progressive hoarseness and chest pain.
    • On questioning, he indicated that he had been smoking for 40 years.
    • Endoscopy revealed left vocal cord palsy.
    • Contrast-enhanced CT of the neck and chest was performed in order to investigate potential causes of the vocal cord palsy.
