    1. Patient presentation

    • An 89-year-old woman presented to the emergency room suffering from sudden-onset abdominal pain and nausea.
    • She had a history of obstipation for 2 days, and reported a loss of weight over the past 3 months.
    • Clinical examination revealed marked abdominal distension, tenderness and rebound pain.
    • Contrast-enhanced CT of the abdomen was performed to investigate further.
