    1. Patient Presentation

    • An 86-year-old woman presented to the Emergency Department with abdominal pain and vomiting. Her medical history included Parkinson’s disease.
    • Laboratory tests showed a mildly elevated C-reactive protein (CRP) level (7.5 mg/L; NR 0–5 mg/L), while all the remaining parameters were within normal limits. Urinalysis revealed proteinuria (30 mg/dL; normally negative) and increased red blood cells (66/µL).
    • Plain abdominal radiograph demonstrated small-bowel dilatation measuring up to 4.5 cm in diameter.
    • A contrast-enhanced abdominal CT scan was subsequently performed.
