    1. Patient presentation

    • A 42-year-old man presented with acute lower left side abdominal pain.
    • He had a history of ulcerative colitis.
    • On admission, he had elevated C-reactive protein (99.8 mg/l) and leukocytosis (12.6 x 109
      cells/l).

    • CT of the abdomen was performed after an inconclusive ultrasonography examination.
