A study from the European Journal of Radiology assessed the potential of sparse sampling CT (SpSCT) technology for reducing CT angiography radiation dose in the detection of endoleaks after endovascular aortic repair. The authors compared simulated SpSCT data sets to conventional CT angiograms at various dose levels and found that the technology allows for a 75% dose reduction while maintaining a good diagnostic performance and subjective image quality. Although preliminary, the results appear promising for future transfer of SpSCT into clinical practice.
