A study from an Italian group compared conventional CT images with virtual monoenergetic images (VMI) derived from dual-layer dual-energy CT in patients with colorectal cancer (CRC) in order to assess whether VMI can ameliorate diagnostic accuracy. Low-keV VMI from contrast-enhanced dual-layer dual-energy CT provided better quantitative image parameters and diagnostic performance for detecting CRC, as compared to conventional CT.
