Iodine concentration analysis using dual-energy CT for differentiating papillary and clear cell renal carcinoma

A study from European Radiology evaluated the capability of iodine concentration (IC) analysis in differentiating papillary from clear cell renal carcinoma (RCC) and in predicting the microvascular density (MVD) of RCC assessed on histological specimens. IC has an 86.8% accuracy in differentiating the two histological variants and is positively associated with MVD.
