Higher image quality and lower radiation dose using dual-layer CT angiography with a split-phase protocol for TAVI planning

A recent retrospective study assessed the image quality obtained with the new dual-layer CT technology performed with split-phase protocol and reconstruction of virtual monoenergetic images at low energy (40 keV) in comparison with conventional single-layer CT with single-phase protocol, for planning transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). This new technology used with split-phase protocol not only proved feasible for TAVI planning but also provided better objective image quality and lower radiation dose in comparison with conventional CT.
