A prospective, single-center study enrolled patients with fragile veins (level II and III venous condition according to the Intravenous Access Scoring system) who underwent iodinated contrast-enhanced CT. Patients were stratified into high- and low-concentration groups according to the contrast agents received (iomeprol 400 and ioversol 320, respectively). Pain intensity and comfort levels were assessed using a 0–10 numerical rating scale and a visual analogue scale, respectively. A high-concentration iodinated contrast agent showed remarkably lower pain levels and higher comfort in patients with poor venous condition compared with the low-concentration agent, without affecting the image quality. High-concentration iodinated contrast medium is therefore suggested in this patient category.
