Dual-energy CT angiography with innovative dark blood decomposition protocols proved to be superior to non-contrast CT in the differentiation between normal aortic wall and intramural hematoma

A new study from European Radiology proved that dual-energy CT with the application of dark-blood image decomposition technique was accurate in the identification of normal aortic wall and intramural hematoma, with results even superior to standard non-contrast CT. This method provides high contrast resolution between different tissues and may be applied to many other fields of interest.
