CT characteristics of aortic annulus and risk of structural valve degeneration following transcatheter aortic valve implantation

A study from an Italian group demonstrated the fundamental role of CT in determining the association between geometrical characteristics of the aortic annulus (AoA) and the risk of structural valve degeneration (SVD) in patients undergoing transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) with balloon-expandable valves. Specifically, CT proved essential in recognizing a small minimum AoA diameter as an independent predictor of SVD.
