A retrospective study was carried out on 152 patients with breast cancer to assess the clinical feasibility of contrast-enhanced chest dual-layer CT (DL-CT) compared to breast MRI for preoperative breast cancer staging. The results showed no statistically significant differences in breast cancer detection and tumor size measurements in the comparison between chest DL-CT with virtual monochromatic images and breast MRI. Therefore, contrast-enhanced chest DL-CT may be a viable alternative to breast MRI, particularly in patients with contraindications to performing MRI.
