A retrospective study of 268 patients who underwent head and neck contrast-enhanced CT angiography (CTA) assessed the added value of artificial intelligence (AI) solutions for the detection of arterial stenosis. The CTA scans were divided into two groups (without AI/washout period/with AI, and with AI/washout period/without AI) and were independently read by six radiologists with different levels of expertise and subspecialties. AI solutions were found to increase the radiologists’ accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity in identifying head and neck arterial stenosis and to reduce the number of false-positive findings and reading time, thus suggesting a potential valuable role for AI solutions in this clinical setting.
