    Penetrating atherosclerotic ulcer (PAU) is an aortic wall lesion resulting from an ulceration of an atheromatous plaque. MDCT is a valuable imaging technique able to detect PAU and to help correctly discriminate this condition among the wide spectrum of similar entities.
