Patients with postoperative complications (POCs) after colorectal surgery performed for colon cancer have a poor long-term prognosis including an increased risk for locoregional recurrences and distant metastases. Therefore, it is important to be able to effectively predict these complications: multidetector CT is currently the favored modality for assessing POCs. In a recent scientific paper, Tan and colleagues proposed a new method for predicting POCs based on the spectral CT parameters of the tumor and the visceral fat area measured by CT.
