THIS MONTH’S HIGHLIGHT

Practical recommendations for proper MDCT examinations

Dear readers,

Over the last few years, MDCT technology has rapidly evolved and its use has widely increased. This revolutionary technical advancement was not adequately supported by guidelines on the use of MDCT in daily practice. This gap has been recently filled by the Safety and Health Committee of the SIR (Society of Interventional Radiology), which has provided detailed recommendations for CT-guided procedures. Dr. Anzidei’s review, proposed in this Newsletter, illustrates the main aspects of these ‘Best Practice Guidelines’, highlighting the strategies suggested for obtaining high-quality images while ensuring operator, staff, and patient safety. An accurate description of the advances made in the technical features of MDCT is included in the selected e-book chapter. Finally, two new clinical cases offer the opportunity to appreciate different applications of the MDCT technique.

As always, you can suggest new topics to be covered in future issues, by writing to editorial@mdct.net.
