Dear readers,
In recent years, an extensive body of research has been devoted to identifying the most reliable predictive biomarkers of cardiovascular (CV) risk obtainable from non-invasive techniques. Proper definition of a panel of biomarkers able to predict severe cardiac events is essential for establishing the risk of such events also in pre-symptomatic patients and for enabling prompt intervention to prevent potential CV morbidity and mortality.
The most commonly applied and trustworthy imaging biomarkers derived from non-invasive cardiac CT are described by Prof. Loewe in his new videographic featured in this Newsletter.
As highlighted in the papers selected on this topic, application of the recent developments in medical technology obtained using artificial intelligence can help define innovative and useful imaging biomarkers in the cardiovascular field.
We also present a new clinical case in which cardiac CT was effectively used for the early identification of cardiovascular imaging biomarkers.
As usual, suggestions for topics to be covered in future issues of this newsletter are welcome: please send your proposals to us at editorial@mdct.net.
