THIS MONTH’S HIGHLIGHTS

CT scan is the most reliable imaging technique
for characterizing incidental renal lesions

Dear readers,

In previous Newsletters, we have emphasized the valuable role of CT in detecting incidentalomas in various body regions, determining their features and benign or malignant nature, and guiding appropriate management approaches. This Newsletter focuses on diagnostic criteria and management strategies for incidental findings involving the kidneys. Professor Torregrosa’s videopill, featured below, delves into this topic, illustrating the different appearances of simple and complex renal cysts and solid masses on CT exams. The videopill also discusses the most appropriate classification systems and provides benchmarks for effectively characterizing these lesions based on their CT morphology.

Our selected scientific papers highlight recent advancements and applications of CT techniques aimed at obtaining increasingly accurate and reliable profiles of incidental renal lesions. Additionally, our latest clinical case offers two real-world examples showcasing proper diagnostic procedures utilizing CT.

We remind you that suggestions for topics to be covered in future issues of this newsletter are welcome. Please send your proposals to us at editorial@mdct.net.
