Dear readers,
Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based CT systems are increasingly used to optimise reconstruction techniques, to obtain more precise diagnoses and to improve image quality while reducing radiation dose. The growing advantages provided by the introduction of AI in CT examinations in general and in chest CT in particular are described in the two new podcasts proposed in this Newsletter where, directly from the voice of Prof. Prosch, we explore the different applications of AI technology in CT imaging and discover that it is already successfully adopted in clinical practice.
The scientific papers included in this Newsletter deal specifically with the improvement in lung cancer diagnosis through the adoption of AI tools and the capability of AI algorithms to predict the occurrence of pathological lymph node metastases.
Finally, the two clinical cases from the MDCT.net’s archive have been selected to underline the essential role of CT in identifying pulmonary pathologies and in cancer staging, which are of fundamental value to guide clinicians to the most appropriate treatment.
As usual, suggestions for topics to be covered in future issues of this newsletter are welcome: please send your proposals to us at editorial@mdct.net.
