The advantage of myocardial perfusion imaging analysis using dual-energy CT for detecting myocardial ischemia in patients with suspected coronary artery disease

A study from a Spanish group compared the performance of single- and dual-energy CT in identifying myocardial ischemia in patients with suspected coronary artery disease (CAD) using visual and quantitative perfusion analyses. In both CT modalities the transmural perfusion ratio is considered the best parameter for assessing the presence of ischemia, but visual analysis on the dual-energy CT-based iodine images yielded a higher diagnostic performance than that on single-energy CT.
