Dual-source dual-energy CT imaging allows the measurement of fractional extracellular space of the liver, providing a reliable parameter for the assessment of significant liver fibrosis or cirrhosis

    A study from an Italian group evaluated the role of dual-source dual-energy CT imaging in the assessment of the expansion of interstitial space in patients with significant liver fibrosis and cirrhosis. This technique allows the measurement of a parameter called fractional extracellular space which proved to be feasible and reliable.
