Correlation between tobacco smoke exposure and epicardial fat in patients with hypertension

    In a study assessing the impact of environmental tobacco smoke exposure (ETSE) on epicardial adipose tissue thickness (EATT) in hypertensive patients, published in Cardiovascular Toxicology, EATT measurements were carried out by coronary CT angiography because of its high degree of accuracy. A positive relationship between ETSE and EATT was observed, providing a new potential predictor for coronary artery diseases.
