Coronary CT angiography provides evidence of the association between low-attenuation coronary plaque burden and high-sensitivity cardiac troponin levels, and can be used to identify the factors mediating this association

A Hungarian prospective study used clinically indicated coronary CT angiography (CCTA) in patients with stable angina in order to analyze the correlation between low-attenuation coronary plaque burden and circulating levels of high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T and the pathophysiology of this correlation. CCTA was able to demonstrate the relationship between these two parameters and to exclude ischemia and inflammation as significant mediating factors.
