Comparison between cardiac CT and echocardiography for the diagnosis of complicated prosthetic valve endocarditis

    A recent study demonstrated the value of cardiac CT in diagnosing prosthetic valve endocarditis in comparison to echocardiography and intraoperative findings. In particular, CT showed its superiority in detecting paravalvular abscesses, vegetations and inflammatory infiltration, whereas echocardiography had better results in the evaluation of paravalvular leakage.
