Cardiac CT for quantifying left ventricular functional parameters: inclusion or exclusion of papillary muscles and trabeculae in the measurement method can produce different results

An observational study published in the journal Medicine examined the potential effect of inclusion or exclusion of papillary muscles and trabeculae when quantifying left ventricular (LV) functional parameters using cardiac CT, a very valid imaging modality for the study of LV functionality. The study concluded that including or excluding papillary muscles and trabeculae may significantly affect disease diagnosis and therapy.
